Bottomley Distillers are Lincolnshire’s oldest distillery, based on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds in Louth. Founded five years ago by Alan Bottomley and Amy Conyard, the business’ heritage dates back to the 1950’s with the original Mr Stansfield Bottomley. Mr Bottomley was a small scale whisky producer, beginning in West Yorkshire before moving on to Lincolnshire in the early 1980’s.
Alan Bottomley, his youngest son, was always fascinated by the production of spirit. In 2016, inspired by this inherited skill and the rise in the craft market, he decided to modernise those nearly lost techniques. With the agreement of partner Amy and their daughter Molly, Lincolnshire’s oldest distillery was founded.
Set in the quaint market town of Louth, we now have nine members of staff and produce our award winning brands, Pin Gin and Rum Cat. As a business we are proud advocates of sustainability as well as mental health.
Just like everybody else, we have been directly affected by the Coronavirus pandemic in many different ways, but particularly for us the closure of pubs, restaurants and entertainment venues alike resulted in a loss of circa 80% of our trade customers. We have chosen to sponsor the Entertainment Imp to show our support and solidarity for this industry, which has suffered detrimental repercussions as a result of Covid-19.
We are also proud to show our support of the trail’s chosen charity. St Barnabas Hospice are already an organisation which we hold close to our hearts as they have been our charity partner for the last couple of years, so the ability to do even more to support this fantastic cause via the Imp Trial is a bonus! We produce a special edition gin available on our website and £12 from every single sale goes directly to the charity.
