Jem has a background in textile design and after a 20 year break from art she has reconnected with her love of painting again. Using gouache and acrylic ink, Jem uses a variety of painting techniques to explore and describe nature and landscape. Light and shadow, colour and texture are important themes in her work. Jem also enjoys recycling, repurposing furniture, objects and clothing. Jem has exhibited locally, including at the Sam Scorer Gallery and produced a large historic painting to use on a ‘wing’ in Lincoln Arboretum Park for Lincoln’s 100 Voices Trail. Jem currently has her first solo exhibition, Unseen Beauty, at the Boardwalk Gallery at the Natural world centre, Whisby. She also has up and coming exhibitions at 10 Decimal, Burton Road and a joint exhibition at The Gallery at St Martin’s.
